Weekend Writing Warriors: Sunday 7 June 2015 (WIP: Ship’s Heart, character interview)

Temn yr Astok claims to speak for my great-clan; he practices assassination and proscription, supposedly in the manner of the respected ancestors. None will gainsay him, as none were alive at that time. The precedents he cites are before my time, and some of them are fictional into the bargain.

Ah, but if he claims to honor seniority — well, I outrank him several times on that score. It is perhaps long past due for the youngsters to be spoken to and set right in their course.

I speak for the Outposts. I speak for Old Karis as well. It is time for the Shipwright to return and see how the rituals of her Chapel are honored outside festival-season.

The narrator is Naime the Shipwright. From character interviews for the Ship’s Heart universe.

Your scenes always evoke a sense of ancient mystery. The universe has so many layers of depth going on in each snippet. I’m in awe.

I like the Shipwright’s point of view here. Great eight.

I like how Naime calls Temn yr Astok a liar without quite calling him a liar.

  4. Yes, I like the idea of fictional precedents

  5. That could be quite the interesting development, the Shipwright returning and asking probing questions. More fascinating glimpses into this fully fledged world! Enjoyed the excerpt!
