“What about the creatures from the journey-ship?” Yasmin asked. “They talk about horses on the Downlink.”
“Oh yes, sacred animal,” Mavra Two-Eyes said. “Their herd-elders find water in the South Continent steppes–they’re old, old AIs. After all, you can’t just hatch embryos — you have to foster them, so the first AIs did that, and then they became part of the social structure. Karis horses are not quite the same as Original World horses.”
“Ooh,” Yasmin said. “I want a horse.”
